Melding moulage with horology (the study of mechanical time keeping), artist/engineer Kostas Metaxas creates striking works in a style he calls Geometrika.

Aiming to connect exclusive hi-fi with special designs, Metaxas & Sins presents the the extraordinary, sculptural headphone amplifier Ethereal.

The headphone amplifier, which resembles a bust or even half a human, is designed for electrostatic models, and according to Metaxas & Sins, should work well with most high-end electrostatic headphones The sides of the head of the Ethereal are built so that they can also be used as headphone holders and can be filled with an optional Swiss Tourbillon clockpiece.

Inside the housing, milled by CNC to resemble a wax-form mannequin, a headphone energizer lurks, which is high-frequency and interference-free as well as made specifically for electrostatic heaphones.

The bias voltage of 580V [standard for Stax, Sennheiser and most electrostatic headphones] is absolutely ripple-free and running at high frequencies to avoid any interference with the delicate audio signals. The amp is completely balanced in a dual-mono configuration and is said to deliver high performance with extremely low noise.
